Infinet Named Finalist in the 2025 Victorian Premier’s Design Awards

We’re proud to share that Infinet has been selected as a Finalist in the 2025 Victorian Premier’s Design Awards, recognised in the Product Design category.
This category represents some of the most competitive and diverse entries across the program, spanning consumer products, industrial solutions, and innovations from leading Australian design teams.

For our small Melbourne-based team of product and industrial designers, this recognition is significant. It acknowledges not just the engineering behind Infinet, but the community-focused purpose it was built for.

Why This Matters for Us

The Product Design category evaluates solutions that show both design excellence and real-world impact. Being named a finalist reflects the work that’s gone into Infinet over the past four years - not just the refinement of the fin-net system itself, but the reason it exists.

Outdoor courts around the world struggle with netless hoops, tangled chains, and rope nets that quickly deteriorate. As a result, players lose the feedback and rhythm that make the game enjoyable, and schools and councils are left with high maintenance and safety concerns.

Infinet was developed to address those problems through engineering, rather than workaround fixes. This finalist recognition highlights:

  • Material innovation
UV-stabilised polymers and powder-coated steel designed for Australian outdoor conditions.

  • Longevity and low maintenance
A system built to reduce replacement cycles and maintenance burden for community facilities and schools.

  • A safer outdoor solution
Fins that guide the ball but don’t invite climbing or swinging - reducing common injury risks associated with chain or rope nets.

  • Community impact
Helping bring life back to outdoor courts, creating spaces where more people feel welcome to play.

A Milestone for Local Design

Infinet was imagined, engineered, and manufactured in Melbourne. That’s something we’re proud of - and something at the core of what the Victorian Premier’s Design Awards were created to celebrate: design that answers a real need and improves everyday life.

Being acknowledged alongside some of the state’s most respected design work is a milestone for our team and for the product itself, especially as Infinet continues to grow in Australia, Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and North America.

What’s Next

As Infinet expands internationally, this recognition helps reinforce the importance of thoughtful design in public infrastructure - especially in schools and communities where safety, durability, and playability matter most.

We’ll continue sharing updates as Infinet evolves, including new testing data, installations around the world, and further design refinements now in development.
